Degussa Increases Prices for Methacrylic Monomers and PMMA Molding Compounds

Degussa's Business Unit Methacrylates, one of the world's leading suppliers of methacrylate chemicals, is increasing its prices for the monomers methyl methacrylate (MMA), butyl methacrylate (BMA) and methacrylic acid (GMAA) as well as for hydroxy esters. Effective January 1, 2006, as far as permissible under existing agreements, Degussa will increase prices by € 120/mt or $ 150/mt respectively for all of the aforementioned products.

The price adjustments were attributed to the increase in costs for raw materials, energy and logistics.

These overall conditions, combined with price rises for MMA, also have repercussions on PMMA molding compounds. Depending on grade, it will be necessary to raise the prices of these products by between € 0.20 and € 0.25 per kilogram effective January 2006.
