Uralkhimplast to increase novolak resin capacities

JSC Uralkhimplast continues modernizing its novolak (soluble phenol-formaldehyde) resin facility. The project of capacities expansion started in January 2005. It is scheduled for completion in April 2006.

Modern equipment is being mounted in the Phenol Formaldehyde and Ionic Exchange Resins Department (including an additional reactor). After the modernization, the Department will be able to produce soluble phenol-cresol novolak resins, often referred to as resins of “new generation”. They can be used in various applications including the foundry, plastic and electrical engineering industries.

Increasing of the Novolak capacities is an export-oriented project. Current modernization expands the range of the export opportunities for Uralkhimplast. Some companies from Western Europe, China and Japan are interested in the “new generation” resins.

The design capacity of the modernized lines is 6 thousand t/y. The project costs 15 mln rubles.
