Ukrainian polystyrene consumption to grow by 20% in 2005

In 2004, the Ukrainian polystyrene market exceeded 45 000 tones. Polystyrene consumption rose by 31% compared with 2003, and it is expected to add about 20% in 2005.

The major Ukrainian polystyrene consumers include: packaging (disposable ware, films, thermoformed containers), engineering materials (heat insulation plates, decorative finish), refrigerator manufacturers. In 2004, these markets accounted for about 80% of the total polystyrene consumption.

The polystyrene suppliers to Ukraine are: Stirol, EniChem-Dunastyr, Dow, Dioki, Nizhnekamskneftehim.

2004 witnessed the polystyrene foam consumption growth of 54%. Meanwhile, in 2004, Stirol Group accounted for 78% share among the polystyrene foam suppliers in the Ukraine’s market.
