04.07.2005	Biggest Petrochemical Project Starts Operation in China

Biggest petrochemical project in China, Shanghai Secco Petrochemical Company Ltd (Secco) ethylene project with an annual production capacity of 900,000 tons was put into operation on June 29.

The ethylene project consists of ethylene facility with an annual capacity of 900,000 tons and polyethylene facility with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons.

Secco is a 50:30:20 joint venture by BP, China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) and Shanghai Petrochemical Company Limited (SPC).

The overall investment is USD 2.7 billion, which makes Secco one of the biggest joint venture in China.
