![]() Solvay, a leading global supplier of specialty polymers, unveiled a significant expansion to its portfolio of thermal management solutions with the introduction of Ryton® R-4-300 polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) and the new Amodel® A-89XX series of polyphthalamide (PPA) polymers. The latest addition to Solvay’s family of linear PPS products, Ryton® R-4-300 polymer offers improved performance in tensile strength and elongation, as well as best-in-class weld-line strength. This new material is suitable for thermal management modules and parts where complex geometries require robust mechanical properties. Solvay’s launch of the Amodel® A-89XX series further expands what is already the industry’s broadest PPA portfolio for thermal management. The new series of glass fiber-reinforced PPA grades ranges from 30 to 50 percent glass-filled loading. Offering improved dimensional stability, lower moisture uptake and enhanced chemical resistance, the Amodel® A-89XX series targets applications such as thermostat housings, multi-coolant valves, water inlets/outlets and cross overs, and other under-the-hood components. In addition to complementing Solvay’s Ryton® PPS and Amodel® PPA thermal management portfolios, the new products join the company’s broader offering for automotive applications, including Solef® polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and Hyflon® perfluoroalkoxys (PFA) polymers for rotary valve seals, Fomblin® perfluoropolyether (PFPE) lubricants, and Tecnoflon® fluoroelastomers (FKM) for O-rings and gaskets.
