Uhde Thyssen Krupp, a German engeneering company, has presented a membrane technology for chlorine and caustic soda production at Khimprom, said the company lately. The technology could enable Khimprom to improve performance and reduce energy costs. In addition, it would cut an amount of processed waste at the plant. At present Khimprom is carrying out a safety management programme providing for the electrolysis unit to be repaired by the end of September. As a part of this programme, Khimprom plans to substitute diaphragm electrolysis production by the one using Uhde membrane technology. The company announced a tender to find a potential partner that will share the technology.
