Bashkhim (Russia) to invest up to USD800m in capacity expansion

Bashkhim JCS (Russia) plans to invest up to USD800m to increase production capacity by  2010, the company's CEO Sergej Chernikov said at the petrochemical conference in Netherlands.

By this time Bashkhim expects to have its principal enterprises modernized:

Kaustik plant is to expand PVC  production to 350,000 tpa  with an annual 150,000  increase in capacity. By comparison, in 2005 the production capacity of the plant equalled 161.8 tpa. The project costs about USD480m.

Soda plant will manufacture  1.7 - 1.8 million tonnes soda ash per year, provided the company invests USD400m in its expansion.

The investment project does not include the funds envisaged for Exprof JCS, a Tjumen-based enterprise with 50% Bashkhim's stake. Chernikov did not disclose the exact ammount of the funds, saying that they are still being  considered. Exprof's  PVC production  is expected to improve by 30 % in 2006 totals.
