On 6 September 2006 the Russian Chemists Association held a meeting in Kazan within the framework of "Oil, gas. Petrochemistry" Exhibition. The key subject of discussion was Russian chemical and petrochemical complexes and their development strategies up to 2015. The meeting participants also examined growth of Tatarstan chemical and petrochemical complexes and the prospects of using Alabuga FTZ as a base for modern chemical productions. At the end of the meeting new members (TAIF, Niznekamskshina JSC, Akrylat JSC, a chemical department of Moscow State University) joined the Russian Chemists Association. Russian and Tatarstan government officials, company representatives and prominent scientists took part in the meeting.
