South African petrochemicals and energy group Sasol and Russian chemical firm Nizhnekamskneftekhim have agreed to explore cooperation possibilities, Sasol said yesterday. Nizhnekamskneftekhim is a leading Russian manufacturer of synthetic rubber and mineral oil products, which had revenue of some €980-million in 2004. Sasol, the world only manufacturer of gasoline from coal, said its olefins & surfactants unit in Germany is one of the world leading manufacturers of alcohols and linear alkyl benzene, the basic raw material for detergents, Engineering News informs.
