'Sayanskkhimplast' Converts to Chlorine Production by New Technology

On August 30, 'Sayanskkhimplast' (Russia) officially opened a membrane electrolysis unit. The new facility has the capacity of 150 thousand tons of chlorine per annum. Engineering services under the project were provided by Germany's Lurgi and equipment was supplied by Japan's Asahi Kasei. Brine extracted at one of Irkutsk region's salt mines is used as raw material of chlorine production.
