VolgaOrgKhim JSC held a project presentation concerning monochloracetic acid production in Dzerzhinsk (Nizhnij Novgogrod Region, Russia. The USD14m project implies a set-up of a chemical plant with annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes of monochloracetic acid at the site bought from Sintez JSC in March this year.

Monochloracetic acid is a fine chemical used as raw material in a range of chemical
products including carboxymethul cellulose. Carboxymethul cellulose is utilised in well-drilling, construction, detergents, paints, food, electrode, paper-pulp and aero-space industries.
