BASF Aktiengesellschaft is transferring part of its acrylic monomers business for selected Eastern European countries to IMCD Group (Rotterdam, Netherlands) with immediate effect. The agreement applies specifically to goods supplied in barrels and small containers (IBC) and also to small volumes transported in tank trucks for the small-sized customer segment. The move reflects BASF-s desire to strengthen its range of services in these growing markets in order to better meet customer requirements. IMCD Group already sells BASF-s acrylic monomers in large parts of Europe via its local companies. BASF is the world's biggest manufacturer of acrylic acid and acrylic esters. Acrylic acid is the most important precursor for superabsorbents used to manufacture diapers and other hygiene articles. Acrylic esters, the most important derivative of acrylic acid, are used, for example, in the production of construction chemicals, architectural coatings and adhesive raw materials.
