TechnoCompound, an independently operating full subsidiary of Polymer-Chemie and located in the same town of Bad Sobernheim, has announced today the addition of a new TechnoDur range of polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) compounds. Product manager Liborius Floper told Prw.com that the company aims to produce several thousand tonnes/year of TechnoDur PBT within the next five years. TechnoDur joins the company s existing product portfolio of polyamide, PET, polyamide 6 and 6.6, TPE (SEBS), polyolefin and long glass fibre reinforced polypropylene compounds. Floper told Prw.com that the TechnoFiber long glass fibre reinforced PP compounds in granulate form for injection moulding, that are made in a pultrusion compounding process and that were introduced two years ago, have been successful as there is no OEM to which The product has not been introduced, or at which the product is under evaluation or in series production. TechnoCompound used to operate as a profit centre within Polymer-Chemie until it was set up as a separate operation last December. It operates separately from the Polymer-TEC subsidiary set up earlier by Polymer-Chemie as a compounder and inline processor of long glass fibre thermoplastics parts using LFT-D equipment from Dieffenbacher. The company has a 60-strong workforce and has a production capacity of over 30,000tpa.
