Kazazot Ltd. ( Aktau, Manghystau region) will commission an ammonia-carbamide plant on the basis of Aktau Chemical Industrial Complex this month, informed Kazakhstan Today. Kazazot Ltd., a division of Russian Aspekt Ltd., aquired Aktau Complex in 2005. The 730,000 tpa facility will produce ammonia, nitric and sulphuric acids for compound fertilizer manufacturing. Natural gas, liquid sulphur of Tengiz deposit and phosphorite of Karatau deposit will serve as raw materials for the production. Though, apart from an ammonia-carbamide plant Kazazot had planned to build a modern sulphuric acid unit, the latter was turned down as irrational at the meeting with government officials. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Danial Ahmetov commissioned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to examine power supply of Aktau city in order to avert a possible energy shortage connected with launching of the plant.
