There was an opening ceremony of Steinert Industries (Germany) and Interglass Ltd ( Kyrgyzstan, Tokmak) joint venture in Tokmak attended by the President of Kyrgyzstan, K. Bakiev, and German company`s Chief Executive, W. Steinert, Kabar press-service has recently said. The new joint venture will produce industrial silver coated mirrors that are considered to be the most demanded product at the mirror market. The new plant with a total capacity of 2m sq meters of mirror sheet employs 128 people, most of whom trained in Germany. As it is the only mirror plant in Central Asia, about 95% production of new plant will be exported. Interglass` CEO, Jenishbek Janibekov, said the cost of each mirror sheet will be 8-9 dollars that is relatively cheap. The prices will be lower for Kyrgyzstan than for the other countries, he added. In September 2000, Steinert Industries acquired assets of bancrupted mirror plant in Tokmak and recommissioned it. European Bank for Development gave a EUR5.5m loan to set up the silver coated mirror plant.
