Nizhnekamskshina JSC, a Tatarstan-based tyre producer, has been recently inspected by a group of environment managers and Tatarstan Deputy Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Anatoliy Shchepovskikh. At the evaluation meeting held afterwards, the company disclosed its water consumption and recycling policy for the last five years. Thus, 2000-2005 expenditures for environmental protection made RUB450m, while 2005 emissions of the company made only 3.66% of the all pollutant releases in Tatarstan. Being the only water-recycling facility in Nizhnekamsk industrial park, Nizhnekamskshina plant has been gradually cutting down its water consumption up to 2m cubic meters per year. By doing this, the enterprise managed to trim its water consumption by 71,900 cubic meters in 2005, in spite of manufacture extension. All in all, a recycling complex of precipitation and polluted industrial water brought to a dramatic decrease in consuming water at the manufacturing site.
