Following a retrofit programme, Kaustik JSC (Sterlitamak, Bashkortostan, Russia) has started modernising its manufacturing units with new electrical facilities from Siemens and Schneider-Electric, said the company on 4 August. The first part of Schneider facilities have already come to the site and replaced the out-of-date equipment of the power substation at the biological treatment units. The retrofit programme also implies replacing of an obsolete electric power substation at the dichloroethane unit by the new one from Siemens. The company has scheduled to make extensive renovations of switching centers at the epichlorohydrin unit and caustic soda unit. A.A. Chernikov, a head of the electric unit, says that contracts concluded with Siemens and Schneider-Electric allow for staff training.
