Lanolin: Production and Application

As a part of wool grease, lanolin is a complex of a thousand various lipid compounds: a mixture of polyol esters (cholesterol and isocholesterol, etc.) with fatty acids (myristic, palmitic and cerotic, etc.). Within the CIS, only six countries import lanolin in big quantities. Almost 79% of overall imports fall on Russia, 16% – on Ukraine, and 4% – on Belarus. Small batches of lanolin are delivered to Armenia, Azerbaijan and Moldova. In terms of money the CIS imports amount to USD 2.8m, of which USD 2.1m are spent by the Russian consumers.
