World and Russian Market of Bisphenol A

Bisphenol A is the most essential phenol derivative. 43 percent of world's C6H5OH consumption falls on BPA. Bisphenol A is primarily used to produce polycarbonate. It is one of the key monomers in epoxy resins manufacture.

The demand for bisphenol A in the world was estimated at 3.9m tonnes in 2009. The global diphenolpropane demand is predicted to rise by 4.4% in 2011, up to 4.15m tonnes. The chief growth in demand will be in the Asian countries.

Russia's share in world bisphenol A production and market is 2% and 0.7%, respectively. Ufa Petrochemical Plant and Kazanorgsintez produce BPA in the Russian Federation. Last year they manufactured 78,000 tonnes of diphenolpropane. A bulk of produced bisphenol A is exported, mainly to China (55-75%).
